Wendi's Review

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Read.This.Book.
Un-effing-believable! This book was so addictive I had to continue reading just so I could see what would happen. This is the first book I have read by Ms. Mummert and I will definitely not be the last. I had to take a couple of days to think about this review, because I just couldn’t put it into words how I felt about this book.
When I first started reading this book, I thought well here we go another typical NA book filled with angst and a damaged girl looking for her fix. Boy was I absolutely wrong!
This book follows Delilah, or ‘Lie’ as she is called by everyone, a damaged young woman who is looking for an escape. She is the product of a rape, and her mother let her know in every way she could that she was the biggest mistake of her life. After a very huge and tragic situation she feels she caused, Lie has left her hometown and started school in another state so she could escape her past and start over. She leaves behind the one person who believed in her and her one true love, Brock, because she has to escape.
She colors her hair and wears colored contacts in order to give herself a new identity. She made a new friend, and I use that term very loosely, in slutty Trish and is determined to start over. Nightmares and flashbacks keep her in the past and leaves Brock fresh on her mind. She is thrown in the middle of one of Trish’s sexcapades and meets Abel, a reformed drug dealer. They have this easy going chemistry that is done beautifully by the author. It is like you can just see them bickering and hanging out right in front of you.
The very sexy Abel knows Lie’s pain, he has a past of his own that he keeps very secret. He feels he has to protect her because she is so fragile. I loved Abel, but he was a real d-bag at times that made me just want to slap his face. He had feelings for Lie, but he kept their relationship as platonic as he could because no one knew the truth about Lie and Brock or if they were actually a real couple. I really liked Abel, because he was a bad boy and that was no secret.
When the bomb drops on this book your jaw will be hanging, mine is still hanging as we speak. I did not expect that…..
Sometimes love burns so hot in your veins that is consumes all rational thought. You become a walking shell that can no longer function without you significant other whispering into your soul, telling your heart to beat.
This is not a story for the fainthearted. It is a very real story about a very broken girl and a damaged guy and their search for true love. If I could give this book 18 stars I would. It is a certified Nerd Alert Book Love A+++!

Amber's A+ Review
I Found You
by Jane Lark

ARC Copy given in exchange for an honest review

If you are looking for a good book to read, I highly recommend this one! The main characters, Jason and Rachel (aka Rach), meet while Jason is on his daily run. He happens to catch Rachel about to jump off a bridge to her death. He takes her in and helps her, against his fiancee and parents advice. He later breaks off the engagement with his fiancee.

After being together for a few weeks, Rachel finds out she is pregnant with her ex’s baby. Jason accepts this with an open mind and decides to take the child for his own after he finds out the father doesn’t want anything to do with Rachel or the baby.

Jason takes Rachel back to his hometown in Oregon for the Christmas holiday so they can spend some time with his family. Rachel tries to make amends with Jason’s family, despite the fact that they think she was the reason Jason broke off his engagement.

I rate this book an A+ on the Nerd Alert Book Love Book Rating System. I loved how Ms. Lark used such descriptive language so that it felt like I was living in Jason and Rachel’s shoes. I have to admit, when Nerd Alert received the request to review this book, I didn’t really seem interested at first. The thing that caught my eye was the fact that the title had the same name as one of my favorite songs by my favorite band. To be honest, the song would make a great soundtrack to the book. Go read this book if you have the chance!

Sweet Nothing Book Tour

Sweet Nothing Synopsis:

Elliot Halloran is running away. Away from her privileged Manhattan upbringing and a promising future at business school. Away from her family, which plummeted from A-list to disgraced after her criminal father’s atrocities were exposed. Despite the guilt Elliot feels for abandoning her family, she has no choice. She is too recognizable to live life as the person she has always been. So when an old family friend offers her a position as an economics instructor at Miami’s elite Alford Academy, Elliot jumps at the chance to distance herself from her past. She cuts her hair, changes her name, and vows never to speak of her old life again.

As she fumbles through the opening chapters of her new life, Elliot encounters an entirely unforeseen obstacle: photography instructor Luke Poulos. Luke is sensitive and spontaneous. An art lover. Smart. Everything Elliot has ever wanted. Luke and Elliot’s connection deepens when she learns that he lost his parents in a car accident when he was a teenager. Like Elliot, Luke understands that life can shatter in an instant.

Elliot knows that a relationship with Luke is impossible; that he would never love her if he knew the details of her past. But as she struggles with whether to open herself to love or keep her true self locked away, Elliot learns that she’s not the only one with secrets.

Mia Henry  Bio:

Mia Henry adores all things romance, from steamy stories to ugly cry-inducing movies. She lives in Florida, where she dreams up storylines during beach walks with her muse, a ferocious 8-pound pup named Lulu.

Wendi's Review

Elliot is running from her past so she runs to Miami to start over. Little did she know that she would run right to Luke Poulos at Allford Academy in Miami.  When she arrives in Miami she is taken in by fellow teachers Waverly and Gwen and awestruck by her mentor Luke. The girls quickly become almost family.,Elle is torn between the family that she has left behind ,who she feels she needs to support, and her new 'family' who knows nothing of her shameful past.

Luke also knows of the feeling of a family being torn apart and he is there for Elle when she needs him most. Little does she know Luke has a pretty big secret as well.

What can I say Luke is the epitome of knight in shining armor!! He is there for Elle in ways that she doesn't even know that she needs.  I LOVED Luke, he is one of my new favorite book boyfriends! He was so sensitive and not an alpha male at all. I really enjoyed Elliot as a heroine. She was strong and I loved that she had her own voice.

I really liked this book! I just hate to read another cliffhanger, but this one is done well and it's not a major one. Great book and everyone needs to meet Luke! Certified Nerd Alert A!

Wild Hearts Release Day Blitz

Wild Hearts by Magan Vernon

December 2013

Part 2 in the FOREVER WILD series
Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19181084-wild-hearts

SUMMARY:

Wild Hearts is the second book in the Forever Wild Series. (This is a six part series with one book releasing every 3 weeks)

Going back to Chicago with her accidental husband should have been torture for Valerie. But  when Wes has her bent over the first class bathroom sink, torture is the last thing on her mind. After landing back in Chicago reality sets in. So does the glaring eye of her roommate, and  her former friends with benefits, Max, who seems to be a lot friendlier since Wes came in the  After a meeting with a divorce lawyer, Valerie and Wes find out that they have thirty days for both of them to sign the papers, ending their quickie marriage. But Valerie doesn’t know if she wants to move on or forever stay Mrs. Wild.

Blurb:

Wes put his chin on my shoulder. “What the hell is that?” I put my phone down and turned to face him. “Nothing that concerns you.” “Are you seriously sexting another guy while I’m in your bed?” “What?” I raised an eyebrow. “No. Who the hell even says that word? That’s reserved for political scandals.” “I’m saying it because you were dirty texting another guy while you had me in bed with you? Are you also sending pics of your boobs too?”
My mouth gaped open. “What the hell? Do you just think I’m some kind of slut?” He groaned, propping up on his elbow. “No. I just know how guys think. If some dude is texting you at 1 AM it’s not because he wants to go out for tea and cookies. He wants sex.” “And I’m sure you haven’t done that millions of times.” “I’m not an animal, Val. I have a little bit more respect for women than that.” “Says the guy who married a girl he just met in Vegas.” He grunted, grabbing my phone and putting it on the table beside us. “I could have done a lot worse.” He placed a quick kiss on my cheek but let his lips hover just above it. “And I don’t regret it one bit.”
“I’m sure that’s not true,” I whispered, barely able to get the words out. Truth was, I was starting not to regret it either. He pushed a strand of hair behind my ear before his lips trailed back to my cheek and then down my neck, his stubble tickling my sensitive skin. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be right now than here with you in this bed. I could lay here forever underneath these fake stars.” I sucked in a breath, unsure of what to say next. But the moment didn’t really need words either. He breathed into my neck as if he was inhaling all of me. Trying to make a memory of my scent.

Wendi's Review

Another great little preview into the world of Wes and Val. I just hate it is just so little! I really am pulling for them! Wes has just made it to Chicago and he is thrust into Val's world before she left for Vegas. Wes and Val are both trying to make the best out of their situation and one of them is on the verge of losing themselves to the other.
Very cute read and I cannot wait to see how their story will end. I give the novella a certified Nerd Alert A.

Dare to Breathe M. Homer

Synopsis:

Can you learn to forget?

Sam is plagued by nightmares she can’t understand with dark visions of a past she suspects may be her own. When she moves into a new co-ed house, she is drawn to the handsome but aloof Nathan. The housemates welcome in Sam but all withhold their own secrets from her which she knows she needs to unravel to truly understand Nathan. But her past is destined to torment her, can she find the strength to face her fear?

Wendi's Review
***I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review from New Adult Tours***

I enjoyed reading this book. It was very well written and pulled me in from the beginning. The story follows Sam, a young college student who has a very troubled past that sometimes gives her violent nightmares. Her nightmares have gotten so out of hand that she decides to ask her RA to find her a new room where she can no longer disturb any roommates.

She lucks out and is housed in a 4 room (one of which she has to herself) co-ed house right off campus with 4 older students who all know each other from childhood. This is when we are introduced to the very hot and quiet ladies man Nathan. On first glance Nathan comes off as cocky and kind of mean, but as the story progresses we see that he is one hell of a friend. We also meet the other roommates Carrie, Ben and Mandy. This group quickly turns into a little family each looking out for the other, but as the group gets closer so do Nathan and Sam, despite Carrie's warning.

Just as Sam is getting used to college life and starting to feel normal again, her past is thrust into her present and it threatens to have her spin out of control. Some things that she thought were true, now have become twisted. And just as she has secrets, so do those that live in the house.

My only hangup on this book would be I would have liked to know more of the back story with the four friends. Some of it is touched on, but I would have liked to know what really happened. This is really a very well written book and I give it a certified Nerd Alert Book Love B.

Kitchen Promises, the final book in the Riverside Trilogy

Chapter One Excerpt
Kitchen Promises, Riverside Novel #3

Drake walked in wrapped in only a towel. The toast I was bringing to my mouth suddenly dropped from my fingers as my eyes roamed over his perfectly toned body. My eyes followed down to his perfect V that went just below the towel.
“Breakfast in bed and a show? I’m one lucky gal,” I teased, leaning back against the headboard enjoying the view.
“Someone sounds like they are feeling better.” He smiled.
“Well, I for sure am now.”
“Really? Well, perhaps I should take advantage of that.” He grinned, slowly unwrapping the towel from around his waist. I smirked as I watched him tease me, putting on a show as he finally released the towel. I watched it fall to the ground. I let my eyes wander up and down his body—appreciating every single chiseled curve of muscle.
“It’s not nice to tease,” I reminded him. “You better put out or get out.”
“Oh, I love it when you talk dirty,” he quipped, laughing. “I can’t decide if I love or hate your pregnancy hormones.” He grinned. It was true—I had a love/hate relationship with them as well. On top of always wanting to sleep and eat, I also wanted sex—all the time. Not that Drake minded, but some days, I was all over the place. I felt like I had no control over them. They were beginning to drive me mad.
“Can you be a little late for work today?” I asked, placing the tray of food on the bedside table. I didn’t take my eyes off him as I watched him walk over to the bed. “I’d hate for you to get into trouble.” I grinned.
“I could probably weasel my way out of it with the boss.”
“You are the boss.”
“I know.” And with that, he made his way on top of me, brushing the covers off. “I think I can spare a few minutes…” He pressed his lips across my jaw, slowly moving to my neck. He bit it gently, making a moan escape my mouth at his touch and eagerness. “…for you.”
His hands slid up my sides, taking my shirt up with them. I arched my neck to the side, giving him better access as the sensations riveted through me.
I reached down, pressing him harder into me. I felt his hardness against me, making me desperate and needy for him.
The hormones made my body respond to him so much more—not that I didn’t before—but it was magnified. It was intensified, and I felt desperate to have him.
“Screw the foreplay. I need to have you right now,” I demanded, pushing his body harder against mine.
“Such a romantic, aren’t you?” I could feel him smiling against my neck as he continued softly kissing.
“I mean it. I’m going to explode,” I breathed out rapidly. Just his touch could undo me completely.
“Alright, hold on, baby.” He lowered his body and in one swift motion, slid my panties down. I wasn’t looking for romance right now. I needed him just as much as I needed to breathe.
I threw my shirt over my head and unclasped my bra. It was still weird seeing my body naked with the way it was changing so fast, but it was also a constant reminder of the love Drake and I shared.
Instead of pressing into me like I wanted him to, he tenderly laid kisses over my stomach and in between my breasts. He was torturing me. He knew it, too. I was practically grinding against him, yet he refused to give in.
“Baby, please,” I moaned out desperately.
“I can’t help it. You are just so beautiful. You have the most beautiful pregnant glow.” He continued to lay kisses around my bump, slowly, taking his time.
“That’s great,” I huffed, cupping his face up to look at me. “I’m going to handcuff you to this bed and straddle you if you don’t—”
He forced two fingers inside me before I could finish what I was saying. I moaned loudly at the surprise sensation, arching my hips up to greet his fingers.
“You’re feisty when you’re desperate.” He laughed as he worked his fingers in and out of me, hitting the perfect spot over and over.
I ignored him and grabbed the bedrail behind me, arching my body up to him as I needed and wanted to feel him inside me.
“How badly do you need it, baby?” Drake whispered with a hint of humor in his voice.
“You know how badly,” I snapped, unable to open my eyes. Still, I could hear the amusement in his tone. He enjoyed torturing me and secretly loved it.
“Say it,” he demanded, pressing harder into me, twisting his wrist, and practically taking all the air out of my lungs. “Say what you need, baby.”
“I need you! I need you inside, right now. God, I swear, I’ll do anything,” I pleaded, willing to do just about anything to get what I wanted from him.
“Anything for my sweet girl,” he hummed, lowering his lips to where his fingers were. He sucked hard, leaving no time for me to retaliate. My back arched, enjoying the sensations that released inside of me. My body shivered with pleasure, unable to control my own breathing as I moaned out.
He lifted his head and covered my body with his. I watched as he licked his fingers, moaning out pleasurable sounds.
“Keep your hands up,” he ordered. I continued hanging onto the bedrail, tightening my grip as he finally pushed himself into me. The feeling was overwhelming as I took him all in, finally feeling full and satisfied.
He leaned down and kissed me gently as he rocked his hips into me. His breathing quickened as the air blew over my lips. His mouth wandered to my ear, blowing and licking over my lobe, making it harder to leave my hands up. I wanted to dig my nails into him and drive him insane as much as he was doing to me. He lowered his hand and cupped my breast, squeezing gently. I screamed out his name, pushing my breast into his hand urgently, desperately needing the release.
He lowered his face and took it into his mouth, swirling his tongue around my peaked nipple. He grabbed one leg and placed it on top of his shoulder, allowing him to get deeper inside me. That was enough to set me off. I screamed out, not holding back as I greeted his hips with mine, soaking up every pleasurable second.
It wasn’t long before Drake did the same, milking his own release as he grinded into me. He lay on top of me as we both tried to get ahold of our breathing, panting into each other.
“Well, if this wasn’t the best morning I’ve ever had—breakfast in bed and sex all before my shower.” I grinned. My legs felt like jelly as all my muscles were stretched and aching.
“Glad to be of service.” His voice was filled with amusement. I’ve been like this for the past few months—needing sex on demand. I felt bad, as if I were using him, but I figured it wasn’t much different from before I got pregnant.
“Must be horrible for you, always needing to fulfill my needs, and all.” I stroked his back with my fingertips as he continued lying on top of me.
“It’s not always easy being the boss. Sometimes I have to do the dirty work.” I could feel his smile against my chest as we bantered.
“Oh, you poor thing. I almost feel sorry for you.” I rolled my eyes.
He kissed me lightly on the lips before rolling off the bed. I just watched as he walked to the bathroom. I listened as the shower started and steam began filling the room.
“Come on, let’s shower together.” He smiled, holding his hand out for me.
“Definitely the best morning ever.” I grinned, taking his hand in mind as I followed him in.
And it was the best shower ever.

Wendi's Review!
Another very well written and hot novel from Brooke Cumberland! After reading the first two books of this series I desperately needed to know how their story would end. I needed them to be together, without all the drama (ok, well maybe some of it). Ms. Cumberland absolutely delivers in this third book. What is there not to love...Mr. Swoonworthy himself, Drake who will do ANYTHING to protect his new 'family' and kick-ass-love-of-his-life Molly! Like the other two books in this series it does not lack in drama. So many twists and turns that you must read....and who doesn't need a bff like Michael in their life?

I loved seeing their story develop and I am so happy to read it through. What an ending, so beautiful.  This is a must read book and a must read trilogy! Kudos to Ms. Cumberland for making such memorable characters and a story that we couldn't get enough of. This book gets a certified Nerd Alert Book Love A+!
